Corry J. Brannen is a local Concord, North Carolina attorney hailing from Elmira, New York and a founding member of the Brannen & Walker, Attorneys at Law. Corry has been licensed to practice law in North Carolina since 2012. In 2019 Corry was named one of the Top 100 Civil Lawyers in North Carolina by the National Trial Lawyers.
Corry comes from a working-class family with two brothers and a mother who was President of a local Union while working for Verizon. His father also worked for Verizon as a lineman and later became Vice President of a local Union. While in high school at Elmira Free Academy, Corry was a starter and captain on both the varsity football and basketball teams. After high school Corry attended Alfred State College in New York where he also played basketball at the Junior College level and maintained part-time employment.

Corry graduated with an Associate of Science from Alfred State. Corry received his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Law (cum laude) from North Carolina A&T State University. While at North Carolina A&T, Mr. Brannen volunteered with the Guilford County Boys and Girls Club, tutored students in the subjects of Math and English, all while working full-time to pay for his college education.
Mr. Brannen received his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law. While at NCCU, Corry became a member of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Law Review, later serving as the Managing Editor. Corry also interned at the Federal Defenders Office in Raleigh, NC, where he worked under some of the most experienced lawyers in the office. During Mr. Brannen’s time with the office, he performed research for and work alongside licensed lawyers on complex criminal matters.
While in law school, Mr. Brannen also interned at the North Carolina General Assembly under Senator Floyd B McKissick Jr. Working under Mr. McKissick, Corry attended general assembly meetings, responded to constituent concerns, and provided legal research on pending legislation. Corry was also a member of the Black Law Student Association’s Trial Team while at NCCU. As a member of the BLSA Trial Team, Corry competed at the national competition held in Birmingham, Alabama.
Soon after becoming licensed to practice law, Corry was able to fulfill a life-long dream of opening a law firm. In December 2012 the Brannen & Walker, Attorneys at Law Firm was established. Mr. Brannen’s primary practice areas include wills and estate planning, criminal law, and civil litigation. Within the criminal law practice, Corry handles matters ranging from traffic offenses to felony matter jury trials. Mr. Brannen believes that everyone deserves sound, quality legal representation and strives to provide such services to every individual he represents.
Mr. Brannen prides himself in a strong work ethic that was instilled early in life by his family and is evidenced by his dedication to the law firm and his practice of law. When he is not working, Corry can likely be found with his wife and four children. His family is of the upmost importance to him, typically keeping Corry busy after work helping with homework and the children’s extracurricular activities. Corry spends his spare time to himself working out and playing basketball. Mr. Brannen is also very active in his church, enjoys traveling, watching sports, and researching real estate investments.
