Hit-and-run crash in Raleigh involves a pregnant pedestrian

During the last month or two of pregnancy, a mother is likely taking her time to get everything ready. The last thing on her mind is that the baby will arrive much sooner than expected. However, a woman cannot always be in control of this, especially in an emergency situation that is extremely unexpected, such as an automobile accident.

This is what recently happened in a collision in Raleigh. According to reports, a pregnant woman was involved in a hit-and-run crash. The 28-year-old woman was 34-weeks pregnant. She was struck from behind by another vehicle while she was walking to the store.

She was traveling on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 401 when a vehicle traveling on the road struck her. This accident not only prompted concerns for the woman but also her unborn child. The woman may not be able to walk again because the crash shattered the bones in her foot. Initially, no drivers stopped to help her, but after throwing rocks at passing vehicles, she finally got attention of a vehicle that took her to the hospital.

The woman delivered her son prematurely, and he requires ongoing treatment at the hospital. As of now, he seems unharmed by the incident. Police in North Carolina are investigating the crash and are on the lookout for the vehicle that struck her. Once completed, they should be able to locate the driver and hold them accountable.

Being involved in a hit-and-run accident is emotional and overwhelming. It not only causes a victim much harm, but it leaves many questions unanswered. Thus, those involved in such a car crash should understand their options and how best to proceed during and after investigation.
